About our School:

Little Chiefs Primary School is a First Nations school offering kindergarten to grade 4 as well as successful K4 (pre-school) program for children who are 4 years of age.
Little Chiefs Primary school opened in 2009, with few students, and has continued to have growing success in many ways including expanding the grade level offered.
Little Chiefs Primary School is accredited through FNSA (First Nations School Association) in which we work closely with FNSA to ensure we are providing our students with effective learning standards to be successful for our students and for our staff.

What We Offer:

School Bus Service
All students at Little Chiefs Primary School are offered a safe and reliable home to school pick up and drop off service daily. This helps to ensure our students are transported safely, on time, and also helps give our students parents peace of mind.

Nutrition Program
In our unique school setting we offer all of our students nutritional options for lunch daily, this helps to ensure our students are able to maintain energy and concentration for their learning activities!

Homework Program
Our school will be offering an afterschool homework program for those students who need additional support. This program will focus on ensuring students complete their homework with effective one to one teacher support. Once completed their homework students will have the option to join the Recreation Department for activities. |

After-School Program
The Williams lake Indian Band Recreation Department offer an After school program for children enrolled in our school. The after School Program involves snack time, structured free play, field trips, arts and crafts as well as multiple recreational activities. Individualized Learning Environment
In our school we strive towards providing students with one on one teaching and learning. In our small classroom setting, we are able to focus on the individual student, and work towards modifying a educational learning plan that is unique to them for rich and meaningful learning to occur. |
Shuswap Language and Culture Incorporated Into Daily Learning
Our school focuses on integrating Secwepemc language and culture into the classroom daily routines. We are fortunate to have teachers' from this community to share and guide our children to learn the Secwepemc language and traditions. Our whole school enjoy participating in these cultural activities and all students embrace the Secwepemc teachings in a positive and respectful way |
Preschool Program
We offer a preschool program provided for children who are 4 years old. The program focuses on preparing students and helping them build a foundation of skills necessary for being confident and successful in their kindergarten classroom. The 8 areas of development that we focus on include the following; Fine Motor Development: gripping a pencil, writing/coloring, cutting Gross Motor Development: participate in physical indoor and outdoor activities, classroom activities with body control (walking and sitting in the classroom) Auditory Skills: following instructions, interacting with teacher and peers Visual Skills: identifying differences in visual images this also includes colours, letters and number symbols. Phonemic Awareness: identifying letter sounds Letter and Word Awareness: identifying different letters and words. Math and Number Awareness: identifying and naming numbers 1 to 10, counting on, one to one correspondence, patterns, and sorting. Social and Emotional Development: understanding emotions and being able to communicate their needs effectively to others. |
